RUC still targeting
Sinn Féin Councillor Gerry McHugh has raised the case of a young
Enniskillen man who was approached by the RUC Special Branch to
work as an informer.
The man, who has helped Sinn Féin during elections, was walking
from his home when a well-dressed man came up to him. The man
offered to clear up a motoring offence if the young man would
``help us out''. He refused but later a number of sinister phone
calls were made to his house.
Gerry McHugh praised the young man for reporting the matter to
Sinn Féin and contacting a solicitor. ``The RUC have not called a
ceasefire. They are still up to their own tricks. One of the main
items on the talks agenda must be the disbandment of this
discredited force.''
