KELLY. Deepest sympathy is extended to Angela, family and friends
of our comrade Pat. The abuse and ill-treatment of Irish POWs was
a direct result of the untimely death of our friend and comrade
Paddy Kelly, the suffering of his family and loved ones must not
go unnoticed. The British government has systematically tortured
our comrades through their oppressive use of the Special Secure
Units, lack of medical treatment, and the abuse of prisoners'
families. We will always remember Pat's cheerfulness, courage and
commitment to the republican ideals, which shall be a cause of
inspiration to all POWs. Your battle cry will forever echo with

comrades in Portlaoise Prison.
