THE EIGHTH ANNIVERSARY of the death of Sinn Féin councillor John Davey was marked in Lavey cemetery in South Derry last Sunday 16 February.
Besides the many South Derry republicans, the crowd also included faces from Counties Antrim and Down, indicating that the respect Davey was held in in life had not diminished in death.
Sinn Fein's Francie Molloy gave the main oration and spoke of his respect for a man he regarded ``as South Derry''.
Molloy also spoke about the upcoming Westminster election. He urged those present to ensure they put the work in to make sure Martin McGuinness in the next MP for Mid-Ulster.
``We don't want to hear Willie McCrea gloating the day after the election,'' said Molloy, ``and worse still, we don't want to hear him singing!''
