The following is an action alert on behalf of the Irish Political Status Coalition
A cairde
We ask everyone, friends, members and concerned individuals to assist us in our efforts to continue the pressure on the 26 County Government to reconsider the repatriation request they have refused twice for Noel Maguire Republican Prisoner at present in England in HMP FULL SUTTON to be allowed to be repatriated to be closer to his family and friends in the country of his nationality.
Noel Maguire's position is very dire having had his Repatriation request turned down twice on the grounds he has not sufficient family in the 26 counties a blatant disregard for the true facts. We are at a loss as to why the Irish Ministry of Justice are being deliberately difficult as regards his repatriation - it's not as if he isn't entitled to it. They recently turned his application down for the second time - knowing full well that he is now alone and very vulnerable. Although born in the 6 Counties, Noel holds a valid Irish passport issued in Dublin and is an Irish citizen by nationality.
We are calling on friends and supporters - and the general public - to write on Noel's behalf to the Irish Ministry of Justice in Dublin pointing out the consequences of he being abandoned in a British prison when his comrades have been repatriated to Ireland.
To those living in England, Scotland and Wales - we request they write, telephone, or fax the Irish Ambassador in London to register their disquiet at Noel's treatment, and call for his immediate repatriation to an Irish prison.
The Irish Ambassador in London is -
The Rt. Honourable Dr Daithi O'Ceallaigh
Ambasad na h-Eireann
17 Grosvenor Place
London SW1-7HR
Tel: 0207 235 2171.
We would ask that everyone able e-mail the people ultimately responsible for the continued delay in the transfer of these prisoners. So this is the plan
First, e-mail Dermot Ahern Email: dahern@iol.ie
Then e-mail Michael McDowell Email: info@michaelmcdowell.ie
If everyone can do this and get friends and relatives to e-mail we should get a few hundred e-mails landing in their boxes which will achieve the purpose of letting them know that they cannot ignore the plight of this man and their family.
The names and addresses and sample letters are below so you can use the sample letters provided, reword it or write your own
Let us all put 5 minutes aside to help these men and send the e-mails and continue writing to the departments responsible for the repatriation listed below.

Minister Michael McDowell, T.D.

Dear Sir:
I write to you to ask that you reconsider your decision on the refusal to accept Noel Maguire's repatriation request from an English jail to Ireland to be closer to his loved ones.
It is claimed that he has no close relatives living in the 26 counties, this is untrue as Noel's wife and their two children in fact live within an hour's drive of Portlaoise Prison in Co Laois and are willing to visit him should he be repatriated. He also has two sisters and a brother in Ireland. Noel Maguire - who is from Co Fermanagh but hold a valid 26 County passport more than qualifies for repatriation on the grounds of the European Directive as an Irish National.
On humanitarian grounds I ask that the decision to refuse repatriation be reconsidered as a knife attack on Noel last year by 2 inmates who have since been charged with attempted murder is an indication of the seriousness of the situation should he not be repatriated his physical and mental well being are at serious risk should this be denied
Please act now and allow this man home, it would be the right and humane decision!
Thank you.
