Pól MacAdaim coming to Carrickmacross

Pól MacAdaim, described by many as the next Christy Moore, is playing at Ceolchoirm in the Shirley Arms Hotel, Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, on Friday next, 12 September. MacAdaim will join local bands Mad Max and 30ft Smurfs for a gig billed as 'An evening of diverse music celebrating international resistance to oppression'.

Organised by Ógra Shinn Féin, the youth wing of Sinn Féin, in South Monaghan, Ceolchoirm will be the first event of its kind to be held in the region and is guaranteed to have something for all musical tastes.

Pól MacAdaim will headline the concert. Pól, whose debut album 'If we don't help them now' has been widely acclaimed for its political folk style, has earned a reputation as one to watch. From Belfast, he plays in a wide range of styles including Folk, Appalachian, Cajun, Rock, Soul and Contemporary. The organisers promise that if you see this man live, you will become an instant and lifelong fan.

Mad Max, a four-man heavy metal band with a fantastic sound, will kickstart proceedings on the night. They will be followed by 30ft Smurfs, a Modern Rock band that need no introduction to a Carrickmacross audience.

Along with great live performances from these three acts Ógra Shinn Féin's very own DJ will be on hand to fill the intervals with a selection of traditional and contemporary Irish music.

Ceolchoirm guarantees great music, great craic and a great opportunity to support the voice of radical youth in South Monaghan - Ógra Shinn Féin. And all this for just ¤8.

Doors open at 8pm and our advice is to come early.
