Ógra Shinn Féin Recruitment Meeting

On Saturday last, 26th April, Ógra Shinn Féin held a successful recruitment meeting in the Victoria Hotel, Galway.

Those attending hailed from Athenry, Mervue, Newcastle, Ballinasloe and Loughrea.

At the meeting, Ógra Shinn Féin's policies and activities were outlined to those present, by Séamas Horan, 18, the PRO of Cumann Séamas Quirke (Westside). The new members discussed issues of importance to young people in Gaillimh, such as the cost of Car Insurance, the environment, the cost of education and national reunification.

As a campaigning organisation, it was agreed that Ógra Shinn Féin should hand out leaflets at the Galway/Cork hurling game at Pearse Stadium the following day.

The large attendance was an example of how increasing numbers of young people are turning to Sinn Féin as an alternative to the establishment parties and their conservative politics.

Ógra Shinn Féin will hold a further meeting on Saturday 10 April at 4pm in Sinn Féin's office, 19 Upper Abbeygate Street.
