Call for investigation after Strabane death

A Strabane man died on the way to hospital after he was crushed to death by the security gate at the town's PSNI barracks in the early hours of Monday morning.

Newspaper reports claimed that Ciaran Connolly had died after a row in a local bar saw a crowd converge on the barracks.

Sinn Féin Cllr Brian McMahon, commenting on the tragic death, expressed condolences to the family

"The circumstances surrounding Ciaran's death are unclear at this stage, but there is naturally major disquiet locally about how this could have happened," he said.

"There needs to be an open and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic death."
