Tar Anall seniors celebrate

A group of Belfast women seniors are pictured in fancy dress at a party to celebrate their completion of an Aging Well Course at Tar Anall.

Former POW Seanna Walsh presented the women with certificates of completion at a presentation ceremony on Wednesday 11 June, the last day of the programme.

During the 26-week course, the women were involved in a wide range of activities, from céilí dancing to reflexology, aromatherapy and excursions, which included a trip to the City Hall in Belfast in March, where they were hosted by Mayor Alex Maskey.

Madge McConville, whose 85th birthday was the following day, was given a birthday cake. Madge was involved in the operation in 1942 on the Kashmir Road that ended with the wounding and capture of Volunteer Tom Williams, who was later executed by the British.
