Newry/Armagh picks three

Sinn Féin in Newry/Armagh will be fielding a strong three-person team for the forthcoming Assembly elections. The candidates are, sitting Assembly member Conor Murphy, Newry & Mourne District Councillor Davy Hyland and Armagh City & District Councillor Pat O'Rawe. They have each given many years of public service and have worked tirelessly on behalf of everyone in the community.

Conor Murphy served as a Councillor for the Fews for eight years before his election to the Assembly. He is a member of the Sinn Féin negotiating team and is Group Leader of Sinn Féin Assembly members.

Councillor Davy Hyland is a local schoolteacher who first stood as a Sinn Fein councillor in 1993 and has topped the poll in each election since in the Newry ward. During the last Assembly elections, he came within a handful of votes of winning a seat in the Assembly.

Councillor Pat O'Rawe is a hard working party official and local councillor who first stood for public office in 2001, when she successfully contested the Armagh City and District Council elections. Her present position as personal assistant to Pat McNamee will prove invaluable as she already has a working knowledge of procedures and running of the Assembly.
