Sinn Féin National Draw 2003

The Sinn Féin National Finance Committee has launched this year's National Draw and total prizes are worth more than €29,000.

Over the last decade, the successful development of the National Draw has allowed the party to make significant gains in the peace process and to build its strength both locally and nationally.

The first year saw a few thousand tickets sold - last year there were 20,000. But the party needs to build even more on that momentum if it is to compete with the financial big bucks of some of the other political parties on this island.

Building the party

This year, the money raised will go towards doubling the membership of the party across the country; increasing the number of elected local representatives after next year's local elections; campaigning for the Assembly to be reinstalled and ensuring increased representation on it; winning its first European Parliament seats in the 2004 EU elections; developing the peace process and getting the Good Friday Agreement back on the rails; and advancing the all-Ireland agenda.

Your support for the annual National Draw is vital for the party's electoral project to work.

The draw is also an invaluable source of funding for individual cumainn. The more you sell, the more you keep. Accordingly, the Ard Chomhairle has instructed areas to dedicate the month of September to ticket sales.

The draw kicks off on 4 October and runs for five weeks. The first four weeks have 76 cash prizes, with the winner on the fifth week receiving €15,000 (not bad just before Christmas), the runner-up a holiday of their choice, and 18 runner-up cash prizes. The winners over the five weeks will be announced in An Phoblacht.

d remember, every ticket bought helps to raise money for the campaign for Irish unity and independence.
