Solidarity with Glanbia workers

Speaking in the aftermath of the fire at the Glanbia meat plant in Roosky, Sinn Féin Sligo/Leitrim general election candidate Councillor Seán MacManus expressed his solidarity with the workers whose jobs and future are under threat.

"I am well aware of the importance of these jobs for counties Leitrim, Roscommon, and Longford," he said. "Past governments have failed to attract industry into this region. Therefore, these workers and their communities can ill-afford the loss of these jobs. Even the temporary closure of the factory will hurt them.

"I want to assure the Glanbia workers that when I am elected as TD I will do everything within my power to ensure that the factory at Roosky opens as soon as possible, and that all jobs are safeguarded."
