Speaking on Tuesday as workers at the soon to be closed Irish Glass Bottle factory in Ringsend left the factory floor and blockaded the entrance to the factory in a dispute over severence pay, Sinn Féin Dublin South East representative Daithí Doolan offered them his support.
"The workers have been forced into this action in an attempt to receive fair severence pay from the management," he said. "It is a response to unfair and unjust treatment at the hands of the board of management. What they want is what they are entitled to."
The workers are demanding that the recommendations of the Labour Relations Court be adhered to but management is claiming it cannot afford to pay them what they are due.
