Tony Furlong

The Parle Cumann of Sinn Féin, Castlebridge, wishes to pay tribute to its loyal member and comrade, Tony Furlong, Ballyboggan, Castlebridge, who died suddenly at the weekend. Tony had been a member of the cumann since its beginnings two years ago and was a proud and active member. He carried a pike through 1998 and since, and was present at all major commemorations and events. Through his party activities he was well known to members throughout the country. In 1999, he and Kathleen hosted two girls on a break from the Garvaghy Road who, in their short stay, came to look on Tony and Kathleen as family, and Tony took great pleasure in knowing that he had afforded them a weekend of peace from their troubled environment. Tony's lively character could not go unnoticed wherever he was present, and the stunned community, not just in his own locality but throughout the county and the Leinster region, will feel his loss heavily. We offer our condolences to his wife Kathleen, to his children Anthony, Darren, Derek, Siobhán, Denise, Martina, Anne-Marie and Rebecca, his grandchildren, all his extended family and friends. We will not see his like again. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
