Scottish 1981 Committees

Under the auspices of the 1981 Hunger Strike Committee, two regional committees have been formed in Scotland. Dividing Scotland into East and West, these working committees aim to organise a wide range of events throughout the country to commemorate the 1981 Hunger Strike. Arrangements are already well under way for a series of activities beginning in March and continuing through to October.
Both committees are supported by the Republican Bands Alliance, the James Connolly Society and the PDF, amongst others. A spokeman told An Phoblacht: ``Many of those involved in these committees organised events in support of the Hunger Strike at the time others were not even born. We will be taking every opportunity to remind the people of Scotland of the sacrifice and courage of all those involved in the 1980 and 1981 Hunger Strikes.''
