A Rajerum oul time expected at Culturlann

For the first time a play written by Irish language writer Biddy Jenkinson is to be performed on stage; and who better to take on the challenge than Aisling Ghear the Belfast based Irish language theatre company.

``The play O Rajerum, the tale of two out of work actors, deals with questions about good and bad, and the struggle for self-confidence. However in time honoured fashion the pair manage to raise a few laughs despite their predicament,'' says Gearoid O'Caireallain who is set to appear in the play, (that is if the peelers are off his case over his refusal to pay his TV license).

Ms Jenkinson has already won prizes from the Oireachtas for her work and is pleased and excited that at last one of her plays is to go on stage.

Belfast City Council and Making Belfast Work provided Aisling Ghear with assistance with the play which is being produced as part of the Theatre Training Scheme.

The opening night in An Culturlann McAdam O'Fiaich is tonight (Thursday) and will be shown on 22, 23 January as well as 28, 29 and 30 January at 8.30 pm each night. Simultaneous translation equipment will be available.

Tickets are available at An Culturlann for £5/£3 and from Roisin Ni Sheanain at 12 College Square.
