North Belfast attack

Sinn Féin Assembly member for North Belfast, Gerry Kelly, has slammed a sectarian attack on residents in the Bone and Ballybone areas of the Old Park.

The attack took place around 3.15pm on Thursday 2 December on the Old Park Road in North Belfast.

Kelly explained: ``A bus from the Model Boys Secondary School regularly passes through the Old Park area. Sectarian verbal abuse has become a regular occurrence. This kind of sectarian attack must stop. I will be contacting the school involved to discuss the matter.''

However, this time those on the bus went further than their usual sectarian abuse and kicked out the windows and threw bottles at passers-by, causing a number of injuries.

When the RUC arrived they claimed that they could do nothing because they did not know the number of the bus.

Earlier this year, a Catholic woman teacher was the target of a sectarian gun attack at the Boys Model. Shots from a low calibre weapon were fired into the classroom where the woman was teaching.
