RUC attacked by gun victim's wife
The wife of murdered taxi driver John McColgan has reacted angrily to
claims by the RUC that they were keeping the McColgan family informed
about how the investigation, into John's killing, is developing.
She intends to lodge an official complaint.
33 year old John McColgan was shot in the head five times by
loyalists in January 1998. During the inquest into his death the
coroner asked one of the RUC officers if they were keeping the family
informed of developments and he replied ``yes''.
However, Rosemary Dornan, Mr McColgan's sister, claims that the RUC
have not contacted the family since February last year and has also
said that the family have been left with the feeling that ``absolutely
nothing'' has been done about the killing''.
Mrs Dornan has said that the family cannot understand how it took the
RUC so long to arrive at the murder scene when the ambulance was
there in four minutes.
``We also can't understand why they didn't set up any roadblocks. They
knew the killers were driving John's car and there were only two
escape routes from the area'' she said.
