Councillor on `death list'

Downpatrick Sinn Fein councillor, Paddy McGreevy, has strengthened his personal security after being told by the RUC that he is on a death list.

The RUC told him that he may receive a letter bomb or other antipersonnel device but would not give details of which loyalist group was responsible for the threat. Nor would they confirm if other nationalists or republicans were on the list.

McGreevy said these type of devices would pose a threat to everyone as letter bombs had detonated in transit in the past. He said that nationalists in general must remain alert. ``People must not panic, but they must remain vigilant,'' he said.
