Fermanagh Volunteer remembered

``Nationalists will never be in submission again,'' said Sinn Fein Ard Comhairle member Pat Treanor when speaking at the 40th anniversary commemoration of Volunteer Patrick McManus in County Fermanagh at the weekend.

Over 500 people attended the unveiling of a new monument to him by Terence McManus, brother of the dead Volunteer, while his sister Mary laid a family wreath. Frank McManus, former nationalist MP, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the committee of local republicans who erected the monument to his brother. ``The spirit of resolute determination and self-confidence that exists among the nationalist people today has been created by the undefeated and undefeatable republican struggle of this generation,'' said Pat Treanor.

  • The 25th commemoration of Volunteer Desmond Morgan will take place in Coalisland this Sunday afternoon 29 November. Marchers are asked to assemble at Mountcairn estate on the Dungannon Road at 2.30pm to parade to the Brackaville Road Chapel and Cemetery where Desmond is buried.
