Loyalists attack council workers
Just prior to their rampage in the Broadway area of West Belfast
in the early hours of Tuesday 10 November, when they smashed in
the windows of up to ten nationalist-owned houses, a loyalist
gang attacked two men on the Falls Road.
Both men, who work for Belfast City council's cleansing
department, were at the junction of the Falls Road and Broadway
when the gang struck. One man was struck twice on the arm with a
hammer and was admitted to hospital, although he wasn't detained.
The second man was able to make it to their vehicle and wasn't
injured.
The loyalists then made their way down Broadway and damaged the
houses as they escaped towards the loyalist Village area.
