Cultúr Beo - a people's business

Cultúr Beo is a community-managed business based in Tallaght, Dublin, which provides heritage, Irish language and cultural services to the community and tourism industry.

They have organised an impressive range of guided heritage walks and scenic drives in the Dublin and Wicklow mountains. The area, which has often been overlooked by the tourist industry, is one of panoramic views and richly colourful countryside and is an excellent summer destination for holidays, or day trips, especially considering its close proximity to Dublin city.

There is a wide range of day trips on offer. Very reasonably priced at £8, a Tour de France route drive is available from Tallaght, which extends throughout the Wicklow area.

Guided heritage walks in Cloghlea, Glenasmole, Hollywood and the Blessington lakes vicinity offer an exploration of ancient Irish history and culture - from megalithic hilltop tombs to the sites of ancient Viking settlements.

It is encouraging to see such community based projects, especially emerging from deprived areas, offering a quality service which also benefits the local community and takes enterprise into the hands of the people, rather than being the sole property of the established business community.

Cultúr Beo can be contacted on (01) 4599159 extn 134.
