Tyrone commemoration
Tyrone republicans are expected to converge in large numbers on
Monday 13 July in Galbally for the annual ``Tyrone Volunteers'
Commemoration'' at the graveside of local man and hunger striker
Martin Hurson, whose seventeenth anniversary falls on that day.
Brian Crawley, Tyrone National Graves Chairperson stressed, ``the
importance of remembering the sacrifice of our hunger strikers
and all others who laid down their lives for Irish freedom.''
The Tyrone National Graves Association has also organised
commemorations in both Edendork and Pomeroy in the past fortnight
to mark the 25th anniversary of Volunteers Patrick Carty, Sean
Loughran and Dermot Crowley who were killed in 1973 and also to
mark the 10th anniversary of Pomeroy man Seamus Woods who was
described by Sinn Fein Assembly member Barry Mc Elduff as ``a
respected man who fought and died valiantly for his country.''
