RUC stole man's money
WEST Tyrone Sinn Fein Councillor Cathal Quinn has
accused the RUC of ``terrorising'' a 20-year-old
Tattyreagh man into handing over £40 last Sunday.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, was sitting in
a car outside the Tattyreagh GAA Club at about 4 am
when the RUC surrounded the car and forced him into
their vehicle. After driving him home they accused him
of not paying a taxi fare earlier in the evening and
ordered him to hand over any money he had. The man, who
clearly remembers the RUC members involved, is taking
legal advice and Councillor Quinn has said that local
party spokesperson Barry McElduff will raise the matter
with the office of Dublin Minister David Andrews.
The sister of the young man has contacted every taxi
firm in the area and roundly dismissed the RUC's claim.
Mr Quinn has plainly described the act as one of
``robbery and bullying''.
