US to repatriate Maguire
Republican prisoner Eamon Maguire is one of three prisoners
who have been given preliminary approval by the United
States Justice Department for repatriation to Irish prisons.
Maguire was extradited to the United States in 1994 on
charges of conspiracy to export arms from the US. He is
expected to be transferred to Portlaoise Prison. Maguire is
due for release next year.
The two other prisoners are seeking a transfer to the Six
Counties. The US Justice department has given initial
approval to the three men with a final decision subject to
agreement with the Dublin and London governments on certain
conditions, according to a US official, a process which
could take several weeks.
