RUC arrest 14 year old

A 14 year old school boy was shown pornographic material by RUC members who had just arrested him for allegedly making rude gestures.

The boy was returning to his Ardoyne home from school at 3.30pm on Thursday 28 September, when the RUC arrested him and forced him into a landrover.

d as the RUC were bringing the boy, the son of Sinn Féin activiists, to Antrim Road barracks, they searched his school bag. They then proceeded to show pornographic material to the boy.

Speaking to An Phoblacht, Sinn Féin's Gerry Kelly, an Assembly member for North Belfast, said that at the same time as the RUC were abusing this young boy, loyalists were attacking nationalist homes in Butler Walk which is only a short distance away.

``The actions of the RUC are totally reprehensible. Unfortunately this is what nationalists throughout the Six Counties have come to expect from this discredited force. The RUC have shown once agian that they can never form the basis of an impartial police service''.
