Kelly welcomes demilitarisation

Sinn Féin assembly member for North Belfast, Gerry Kelly, has welcomed the news that the British army has evacuated its spy-post on Meadbh House flats in the New Lodge Road area.

The flats, which have now been returned to the Housing Executive, will be refurbished and used to help alleviate the housing problems in North Belfast.

Kelly pointed out that the British Army still occupies the Divis tower complex in West Belfast as well as its many posts in South Armagh.
