Castlewellan Commemoration

The 26th annual Volunteer Paul Magorrian commemoration was held last Sunday, 20 August, in Castlewellan, County Down.

Volunteer Paul Magorrian from South Down Brigade was killed by the British forces on 14 August 1974 at the age of 21. In their speeches, those who knew him personally remembered him as a young man in prime of his life, dedicated to the case of the Irish liberation struggle. The main speaker at the rally was John Kelly, and there was a good turnout on a beautifully warm and sunny summer day. ``We don't have all the answers at the current stage, but we will continue our struggle until our goal - and Paul's ultimate goal - freedom of our country is achieved,'' said Kelly.
