Burke in America

Dublin SF Councillor Christy Burke this week began a three week visit to the US on behalf of Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams.

The visit will encompass a tour from the east to west coast where Burke will be speaking in San Francisco.

Burke said: ``On a delegation to Belfast during US President Bill Clinton's visit, I acknowledged the truly immense and inspiring role of Irish America, not only in the peace process, but also in our continuing quest for freedom throughout Irish history. I will hope to emphasise the unrelenting need for renewed support and pressure from Irish America in forcing movement in what is a worryingly stagnant time and bringing about the ultimate goal of a 32 County Socialist Republic.''
